The
N’Crowd Model Railroad Society marked its 30th anniversary with a
special event at Papa Ben’s Train Place on Saturday, March 15,
2008. N’Crowd members and store visitors were treated to a special display of N’Crowd and Division 8 memorabilia, photos, videos and special run cars that spanned the entire 30-year history of the club. Papa Ben’s supported the event with BBQ beef, slaw, cherry cobbler and soft drinks. The N’Crowd was formed in 1978 as an N-Trak club, the first in southeast Texas. The club sponsored the 1st N-Scale National Convention in 1983, and also sponsored the 10th Anniversary N-Scale National Convention in Houston in 1993. This was followed by the 20th Anniversary N-Scale Convention in Houston in June 2003. The N’Crowd is now focused on building an N-scale layout on the second floor of Papa Ben’s. The double-deck Bayou City & Gulf, which will incorporate two helixes, is open to the public on most Saturdays. |
